Cheapest month of the year, with a couple of trips in the car as the only expenses. A bit below average on the mileage front, but still a good month with some heavy climb miles (second biggest climb month of the year). I'm projected few expenses for December so I'm pretty sure my costs per mile are going to come in well below a dollar.
With YTD mileage at 3,120, the yearly total should come in at slightly over 3,300 which will easily be my biggest ever. Zero injuries has a lot to do with that. Looks like total expenses for the year will be a touch below $3k. Sounds like a lot, but considering the enjoyment I get from the sport, I'd say it's something of a bargain.

Hi Nick, I came across your blog some time ago and have been reading your posts. I really enjoy reading. Just out of curiosity, what exactly are you comparing in your "spending/miles" posts? Is it price of gas getting to races, or do you run or walk to work and your comparing the money you save by doing so?
ReplyDeleteHi Charlie - On the spending thing, I'm attempting to track my total running-related costs for the year. The mileage is running miles. The costs are anything run-related including gas money to and from a race or a training run.
ReplyDeleteI consider myself somewhat frugal and save on expenses where I can, so I guess I wanted to get an idea of the financial cost of my running habit. I'm not quite sure why I'm tracking my costs per mile, but that is no more than dollar costs divided by run mileage so at the end of the year I can say that running cost me x amount per mile.
I work from home so my actual commuting miles are non existent - although I do run my son to daycare every morning, so I guess that is my commute.
Cool man, thanks for explaining. I had a feeling thats probably what it was, but thank you for quelling my curiosity.
